Parenting Guide - What Successful Parents Know and Do

🥇The Secret of raising ‘Successful Kids’….
❗️Preston Parents are reading this guide❗️

Some kids learn from their mistakes and others just repeat them.

In my opinion, being successful in the future does not mean that your kids pass a test or get an A*.

If kids need knowledge, they can google the answer or find the info on you tube?

For me, success in the modern world is the ability to try new things and learn from what does not work.

Think about this, have you ever felt embarrassed when you made a mistake in front of a group.

Been looked over for a promotion at work?

Worried about failure so you stop trying after the first attempt?

O.K. If this was parachuting I would kinda understand, but how often do we jump out of planes?

Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s a neccessary part of success.

Helping children try new skills or tasks is the responsibility of a good parent.

But helping your child to acknowledge when they got it wrong and trying to resolve the mistake.

Getting our children to understand and try again.

This is a parenting style that great parents consistently demonstrate.

This is helping your child to become a leader.

Being able to fail is a life lesson that each of us will learn. Being able to embrace it, own it is something that every child needs to learn about. But learning it’s not a label, it’s a moment to pause, rethink and re-imagine.

In life, death and taxes are certain. But in my experience so is failure.

So learning to overcome it, to know and grow from failure is essential to success.

Being a good leader is going to be more valuable to employers in the future.

Within the next generation, we’ll have self driving cars, AI making decisions for us and holidays in space.

One of the most valuable skills left will be the ability to lead.

This starts with taking ownership for resolving your mistakes.

There are many ways to provide these opportunities to our children, but they need to be in an environment with the right attitude.

It’s why martial arts for children is great.

In our martial arts centre, kids learn to resolve mistakes by asking for help.

They’ll ask the coach, higher grades or their parents

They’ll work in groups and learn to value other peoples opinions

Taking the action to try again and inspiring the people around them.

Developing a mindset of ownership, growth and leadership.

For me, this is success.

But it starts with incorporating the word yet into our kids vocabulary.

This needs a little frustration, struggle and failure.

Failure is a necessity so that our kids can succeed.

One of my favourite parenting quotes about success is

“Children are educated by what the grown-up is and not by his talk.” –Carl Jung

Carl Jung  was a psychiatrist best known for his theories about personalities.  Jung knew you can’t just tell your kids what to, if you want them to be leaders. Then you must set the example they’ll follow in life.

Success is a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don’t quit when you’re tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.” – Robert Strauss

“Out of love and desire to protect our children’s self-esteem, we have bulldozed every uncomfortable bump and obstacle out of the way, clearing the manicured path we hoped would lead to success and happiness. Unfortunately, in doing so we have deprived our children of the most important lessons of childhood. The setbacks, mistakes, miscalculations, and failures we have shoved out of our children’s way are the very experiences that teach them how to be resourceful, persistent, innovative and resilient citizens of this world.”― Jessica Lahey,
