“At nearly 60 years old, I can still keep fit and train. I just wished that Krav Maga was around when I was younger!”
My name is Pete Shaw and I originally trained Kickboxing with Lee just for some fun mainly, as I like to keep fit and I was bored with the usual routines in the gym. After a kickboxing class, I had a chat with Lee about my training and he talked me into trying a Krav Maga lesson and I’ve been hooked since.
The training is not easy and I have to push myself to complete some of the drills but I leave the lessons with a smile on my face.
What I like best about Krav Maga is that it’s a no nonsense approach to training. We practise realistic self defence drills and always test what we have learnt in the lessons at the end of the class under a bit more pressure. You don’t need to be an expert to make the techniques work for you, just be ready, listen to the coaching and train hard.
I’ve just completed my graduate level 1 test with Lee’s instructor Eyal Yanilov. This has been my driving goal for the past year. I’ve not yet decided what my next challenge will be, but when I make my mind up I’m sure it will be fun getting there.
